The Logical Science blog would like to release this statement on the execution of John Allen Muhammed:
The State of Virginia, prosecutors who worked on the John Allen Muhammed case, and all of those people who have stood up in support of capitol punishment, murdered a man tonight. These people stood, as if ordained by God or some higher power, pointed their finger at a man, evil, deranged, twisted as he may be, and said “You deserve to die.”
Tonight, the American justice system failed. Tonight, justice wasn’t served, rather, the perpetuation of mindless violence and killing was preserved as acceptable and ethical in our society, when nothing could be further from the truth. Tonight, the state of Virginia, prosecutors, and capital punishment supporters gave John Allen Muhammed exactly what he wanted. They gave him the status of a martyr. A martyr for his cause.
Tonight, all these people should be held accountable for murder. These people stand and say, “Killing is wrong, so we’ll kill you.” Those that derive some form of twisted justice from capitol punishment are as deranged as those sentenced to endure government sanctioned murder.
Tonight, justice wasn’t served. And now, it never will be.
I pass these things all the time. Confederate flags hanging in store windows, plastered on people home windows, hanging from their porches, stickers on their pickups, displayed on their campers, car plates, and even cemeteries. My town cometary has around half a dozen or so U.S. flags throughout. However, you can easily triple that number in Confederate Flags.
This presentation annoys me to no end. Not because I’m anti-southern pride, but because I’m anti-ignorance, and most all of these people flying these flags on their hats and whatnot, are ignorant of the meaning and hypocrisy it causes.
The theist recommendation I made yesterday can now be ignored. After taking the time to post that, his YouTube account is now closed (I certainly hope it wasn’t this blog that caused him to do so). Talk about bad luck. Well, hopefully he’ll be back, and I’m not sure why he left unannounced (as far as I know). Perhaps the rapture has occurred without our knowledge?
In light of the theist blog recommendation, I thought I’d include a recommendation of a YouTuber that’s worth checking out. His channel is a free speech zone and his knoweldge of his faith (Roman Catholicism) and philosophy is astounding.
Though I disagree with much of what he says, I certainly enjoy his videos for their ability to force me to examine my own ideas. The information included in these videos is not worth passing up, and you owe it to yourself to check it out, theist or not.
I will give you a word of warning before hand. He will certainly not hold back against an atheist or theist of a different religion. He considers atheists fools and any religion other than Roman Catholicism to be false. This would also include other forms of Christianity (sorry Protestants). But don’t let this prevent you from viewing and subscribing to his videos. Like I said, regardless of your religious convictions, his channel is certainly worth viewing.
His name is Mike Campochiaro and his YouTube channel is: www.youtube.com/user/mikecampochiaro So go check out his videos and subscribe
It’s unfortunate that you rarely find two people who can discuss the atheist/theist debate without becoming hostile. In light of this, I rarely recommend any blogs that have to deal with intelligent design, creationism, or religion. However, after several very constructive and polite debates, I have found someone who’s blog is worth reading.
I seek every opportunity to show both sides of an issue and this is an opportunity for me to do so. mcoville has a blog titled ‘I Am Intelligently Designed’ which I will place under the links section on this blog. mcoville argues in favor of the intelligent design movement and posts a large amount of very useful information and arguments. Over the course of our debates I am happy to say he is probably the most polite and understanding of anyone I have debated the issue with. So don’t waste any time, go check him out!
Recently, a YouTuber by the name of miltownkid (through his MyDeadXbox Channel) raised awareness about a charity known as Donors Choose. An author, Tim Ferris, is donating 3 dollars to the charity for each new follower he gets on Twitter. miltownkid used this opportunity to motivate people to participate in this by giving his Xbox 360 to the person who gets the most followers for Tim Ferris.
So how can you help?
I’m asking the readers of this blog to help by going to http://www.mydeadxbox.com/contest/gabehwkns.html and following the instructions. It’s only 3 steps (the last two are optional) and should only take about 3 minutes of your time. Spread the word and send your friends to this link.
Before you do so, I’d like to clarify that I’m not in this for the Xbox 360, as I already have one. I have included a video with this post explaining what I plan to do with the Xbox if I’m fortunate enough to win. However, the important thing is to get as many followers for Tim Ferriss so that this charity gets as much money as possible.
I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about Donor’s Choose and the contest, but the website explains everything pretty well.
It has been confirmed. The pop punk trio is back and in the studio recording a new album.
On February 08, 2009, blink-182 officially announced that they were back and playing music together. The announcement was made on the Grammy stage. This same day, a new Blink182.com was launched where the band posted the following message:
Hi, we’re blink-182. This past week there’ve been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, we’re back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy. Summer 2009. Thanks and get ready…
A new T-shirt, the chrome six arrowed smiley face (similar to that on the cover of their self-titled album) has also been released.
I know this wasn’t a science post, but it is a post that is dear to my heart. Science post coming tomorrow friends. ROCK ON!
Yes, I finally bought Halo 3 today; well I didn’t buy it, my parents bought it for me as an early Christmas gift. I was never fond of the first Halo game, and I never bothered to try it again. However, everyone I have talked to swears by Halo 3. So I figured, why not. I have yet to play it but I shall in a few minutes probably. Hopefully I won’t become addicted like a certain friend of mine, who should probably be practicing drums, but instead enjoys playing long hours on Xbox Live.
I found this on eBay and thought it was funny and worth sharing. Apparently, someone is offering the ability to time travel to anyone willing to pay $20,000,000. Don’t believe me? Here’s the page.
It will be interesting to find out how many people bid or buy on this.
Yes, the movie voice-over guy passed away yesterday. It’s a very sad thing. He was flipping awesome. Apparently he had been hospitalized due to a blood clot in his lungs in mid August.
A sad day indeed. Anyway, off to do some homework…..
