The Confederate Flag – Why flying it as a representation of Southern Pride is hypocritical

By Gabe

I pass these things all the time.  Confederate flags hanging in store windows, plastered on people home windows, hanging from their porches, stickers on their pickups, displayed on their campers, car plates, and even cemeteries.  My town cometary has around half a dozen or so U.S. flags throughout.  However, you can easily triple that number in Confederate Flags.

This presentation annoys me to no end.  Not because I’m anti-southern pride, but because I’m anti-ignorance, and most all of these people flying these flags on their hats and whatnot, are ignorant of the meaning and hypocrisy it causes.

The kicker for this post is the fact that if one is a self described “redneck” and one displays a Confederate flag as a declaration of this pride, one is a hypocrite.  Why?  We shall see momentarily.  But first, let us tackle what exactly the Confederate flag means and stands for.

We all know the Confederate flag to be the symbol of the south in the Civil War.  The flag represented the pride the Confederate States had in their morals, lifestyles, and political ideologies.  This would be fine if the south’s morals weren’t objectionable, but as we will see, they most certainly were.

The Confederate flag was designed and sewn under the leadership of P.G.T. Beauregard, a Confederate General.  He was influence by a group of some 60,000 southerners in SPMG (Southern Peacekeeping Militia Group).  Interestingly, this group was what later became the notorious Ku Klux Klan.  The group, along with Beauregard designed the flag with the colors symbolizing the following:

Red:  Stands for the bloodshed of Confederate Soldiers fighting for the purpose to keep their property of slaves.  It also stood for the fight against recognizing African Americans as human beings.

Blue:  Stands for the ‘One Way Ideology’, an anti-protestant, anti-Jewish, anti-Black, anti-Indian, etc. etc. philosophy upheld by the Confederate Army and over 90% of Confederate leaders and citizens that support the succession from the Union.

Stars (White):  Represent both the states of the Confederacy and the number of protestant, black, Indian, Jewish, etc. human sacrifice immediately after the Confederate states formation (one human sacrifice per state).

This was used not only as a symbol of the confederacy and early KKK, it was also a symbol of hate.  Hate for all non-Catholic, non-white people.  This philosophy later formed the fundamentals of the KKK.

So why exactly is it hypocritical of a “redneck” to display this flag in representation of pride?  Because 98% of those declaring themselves to be a “redneck” also said they were Protestant Christians.  This flag represented the slaying of over 3,000 Protestants from the north and south during the Civil War.

The same goes for the KKK.  Unfortunately, there are several moronic people in the south who still support the idea of anti-black upheld by the KKK.  But that just goes to show how naive they really are.  The KKK was strongly, strongly, anti-protestant as well.  The morals of ‘The One Way’ were the foundation of the KKK.  And though the KKK eventually became quite anti-Catholic, they were, and still are today, anti-Protestant.  The KKK is a strong Unitarian group.

In the end, the displaying of the Confederate flag in the name of redneck southern pride, is an ignorant and foolish thing to do.  This flag is still a symbol of hate, and ironically, hate for those that fly them.  The next time you see someone displaying it for this reason, kindly let them know that they are displaying a piece of shameful cloth that represents the killing of Protestants, Jews, Blacks, Indians, etc.  and does not represent “the redneck” way of life.
